Our seniors

Wow, what can I say. Last tuesday, the 30th June, we had our seniors sports day with the Athlone Seniors Clubs group in Stellenbosch. they won 5 gold medals, and we are very proud of their achievments. there was the dress up race which aunty gerty adams did. she was a very jovial person, full of fun and laughter. always ready with a smile and a big encouragement to everyone. then two days later she passed away in PnP in vangate mall of a heart attack. that was so sad and I could not believe that she has died when aunty mona phoned me the friday evening. it made me realise we need to live so near to God, but not only live near to
God, but to also know him as our personal savior, accept Him in our lives, to have a personal relationship with Him. I am truly gonna miss her, and I felt so proud of all our seniors who attended her funeral today, all had their Impact Direct Ministries sweaters and tracksuits on when they sang in church. One can see that she was a well loved person. the church was packed and people were even standing outside! Another senior who also passed away was aunty cornelia baker. she was also a lovable person whom we also became very attached to. she belonged to our seniors pampering where we did her feet. we were also shocked at her passing, but we are very glad that we got to know her personally, giving her a bit of pampering, and massaging, and just keeping her in our prayers at all times, which is very important. at her funeral, one could also see the many friends and family who attended, because of the person she was. these two ladies were a blessing to us in their own way, even in their deaths, what people said about them, made an impact in my life

felling the lost

Last week was very hectic it was the Provincial Golden Sports for senior citizens. Everybody was on a high because Stellenbosch is like out of Cape town" buite" for some of the seniors.
The practices went well and everyone knew what to do,they even improved on their speed.30 July was the sport day on my way to the Impact centre I saw the senior standing at the Community centre that was 7am. The bus arrived at 8.30 am but not all of our seniors could board the bus, as I mention that our clubs is growing by the day.A minibus and two cars took the rest of the seniors through. Everyone received breakfast and lunch and a t-shirt in the colour of their district. I must say I have never seen such excellence our moms and dads ( Western Cape) are really fit and active.
The Impact ring the stick team received medals they came in second so we are very made up with that.
We are also sad because we lost one of our own moms Aunty Gertrude Adams. She was a fun loving person full of energy. Aunty Gerty had a heart attack and died while waiting on the paramedics. We have a prayer meeting at her home on Tuesday. Our ladies attended Mrs Bakers Funeral this morning, she was in our wellness club a very kind and smart lady. The church was full to capacity that tells the way she impacted lives she had lots of love.
Our volunteers are taking a break its school holidays, we need the break. Well done Impact ladies enjoy life.

THE UNKNOWN

Today the most astounding thoughts or shall I say the most revolting thoughts crossed my mind ie our future generation. Two evenings ago a few educators were so engrossed in a topic, which unknown to them, were very dear to my heart. They were unaware of the affect this subject had on me that I silently went in prayer, not realizing that they too served this great God. Priscilla, the more bolder of the three educators, were commenting about the future of our children in twenty or even less years. As they young teachers, in their thirties,my thoughts were...They young and why such a great concern for generations to come? Where was all this leading to?...Thalidomide babies...this word shooked me.Yes we heard what happened to those babies born between 1954 and 1974.Their moms, during pregnancy, were prescribed thalidomide, a drug, to alleviate morning sickness. Most of these babies were born deformed .Did the state take care of them as nothing was ever heard or seen of these children to date,A few are still alive today in the UK and USA,living with their deformities.Thalidomide was a legalised drug though.....Now the METHAMPHETAMIDE CRYSTAL BABIES...TIK. generation of the future. They being, qualified remedial educators,in unison, voiced their fears for their proffession, regarding the babies born to drugaddict moms. The one explained about the low doperman level of these kids , how they only have a 5opercent usage of emotions and the low developement of these babies brains. One exclaimed loudly....Lord I trust you for a miracle now on these childrens lives,as Ill be too old , when they start schooling...These discussions really ripped through my whole being. These babies will be or are already schooling. So how are they going to grasp any simple educational skills? or will they be maintained by state or also shoved away in unknown institutions? These children destroyed by tik. As this demon... Tik... has been destroying lives as far as it could extend its hand, leaving death, retarded young men and women and traumatised families in its wake. Now this!!! ...Generations of the future, doomed before their lives even started. This merciful God has really the power to restore the fear in the hearts of all those who feel these no hope.Prayers and more determination on our parts as christians will bring at least a ray of hope.
